We keep the list short on purpose
GadgetDailyUpdate is a small independent team that publishes one gift guide a year. We buy what we test, we say who pays us, and we cut anything we would not give to someone we like.
What this site is
Most gift guides are assembled in an afternoon from other gift guides. Ours takes nine weeks, because the only question worth answering about a gift is whether the person receiving it still uses it three months later — and that question cannot be answered by reading a spec sheet.
We publish one main list each year, refreshed with price checks twice a week through December. When something sells out or a price moves off its 12-month low, the entry changes the same day. We would rather run a shorter list that is current than a longer one that is stale.
How we are funded
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, a retailer pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would have paid anyway. That is the whole business model — no sponsored placements, no paid rankings, no “featured partner” slots.
The separation we hold to is simple: the people who choose what goes on the list do not see which products carry a commission until after the list is locked. We have cut products from brands that pay us, and kept products that pay us nothing. The full advertiser disclosure spells out the details.
What we will not do
- Invent reviews. Every quote on this site comes from a named tester on our own team or a verified purchase we can point to.
- Run a fake countdown. Our deal timer counts to a real date. It does not reset when you reload the page.
- Call a permanent price a sale. If something is “50% off” all year, that is just the price, and we say so.
- Accept product in exchange for coverage. We buy what we test at retail. Samples sent unsolicited go to a local shelter.
Who we are
Six people: four testers, one editor, one person who does everything else. We work out of a converted garage in Providence with a kitchen, a decent camera, and more extension cords than anyone should need. Our testers are recruited from ordinary households rather than from the gadget press, because a gift that only impresses a reviewer is not a gift.
If you think we got something wrong — a spec, a price, a claim — tell us. Corrections are published with a dated note on the entry, not quietly edited away.
Editorial corrections
We log every correction with the date, what was wrong, and what it was changed to. If an error affected a product’s ranking, we say so and re-rank in public rather than silently reordering the list.
Getting in touch
Questions, corrections and press all go through contact. A correction reaches an editor the same day; anything about a commercial arrangement is answered from the disclosure page rather than in private.
